To remove the Keytronic unit you need to depress the tabs on either side of the Keytronic housing whilst pressing the key down. If the key is not depressed it will be impossible to release the tabs and thus the whole unit. Holding the key frame upright hold the key with your left hand that you want to remove. Depress the tag with the small screw driver held in your right hand as indicated but do not force it. With the tab depressed gently rock the key with your left hand to partly withdraw the Keytronic unit. Repeat the process with the other tab to totally release the unit.It may take several attempts to get this procedure right. Do not touch or damage the silver foil contacts. Remember not to force the tabs in as it will render the Keytronic unit useless if it is broken. Remove all the Keytronic units to leave the metal frame.

The stamped metal keyboard frame can be cleaned by washing in warm soapy water and rinsing in clean water. Use a plastic scourer to clean the surface so as not to damage the black finish. To dry the unit use a hairdryer or radiated heat. Do not leave this unit to dry on its own as it may rust.

To dismantle the Keytronic unit first pull off the attached key. Do not twist or bend the unit when pulling as it may damage the clips under the key. Watch out for the spring under the key and of course do not lose it. Place all the parts in containers to protect them from damage or loss.
Shown is a complete unit and one that has the key and spring removed. Note the clips in the key cavity.

The white key plunger is removed by placing the unit on a vertically held snugly fitting hexagonal key or small screwdriver and pressing the Keytronic case down. There will be a small amount of resistance and a 'click' but it will release. Do not over apply pressure and do not damage the foil or now the exposed foam cushion on the key plunger.
Inset shows the key end of the key plunger.

The Keytronic unit is now completely dismantled and ready for examination and cleaning. Take close care of the key plungers as it is at this stage damage may occur to the foam pad or foil.
The two parts that can be cleaned in warm soapy water are the Keytronic housing and the key. The Keytronic housing is where most of the detritus lands during its life so a bit of gentle scrubbing may be necessary. The spring must be kept dry to avoid rusting.
